Take the time to improve and be seen!
Are you prepared for the upcoming basketball season? Before you know it, it will be time to begin. The LHSAA will be working in conjunction with Northwestern State University to provide a referee camp in June 2016. All campers will receive instruction on mechanics and point-of-emphasis changes for next season.
One vital way to improve our officiating in Louisiana is to improve mechanics and rule-knowledge. Many officials have expressed to me their desire to improve their officiating. Here is your chance! The LHSAA and LHSOA have worked with Coach Mike McConathy, Northwestern State Head Basketball Coach, to provide a low-cost ($50) camp for all officials who serve our local high schools. Dorm rooms are available for an additional $22 per night
I encourage officials from across Louisiana to attend this year’s camp. This camp is for all officials. Make the commitment now to prepare yourself mentally and physically. Attend- ing this year’s camp will not only show your dedication to your local association, but also your willingness to improve upon your mechanics. I look forward to seeing each of you work on June 17th and 18th at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
